Take a moment to enjoy this video from the SXSW YouTube Channel. It's "Weekend" by Class Actress, the Brooklyn trio returning for SXSW 2012. Lead vocalist Elizabeth Harper describes Class Actress as "dance pop for deep thought. Blunt, playful, lascivious...a bit denser and a bit weirder than the stuff you would hear on Top 40 radio... generally stuff that sounds interesting and a tad more adventurous." Harper and her collaborators Mark Richardson and Scott Rosenthal released Rapprocher (French for "to come close to") to positive reviews last fall on Carpark Records.

SXSW are proud to premiere the latest video from NYC electronic indie-pop darlings (and SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist) The Ropes on the SXSW YouTube Channel. "Lack Of Technology Made Me A Killer" was recently named KEXP Song of the Day, and is accompanied by a subtitled, self-produced cerebral video.
ANR Are Prepared for Anything
The Miami duo ANR - Michael-John Hancock & Brian Robertson - return this year to SXSW (with a third band member!) They're working on new material for a summer release. The song "It's Around You," from their latest album Stay Kids, deals with something people in Miami have to be mindful of: hurricane preparedness. "This started out real simple, with just the vocal loop and thoughts of how it's been six years since a major hurricane hit south Florida," Michael-John told Rolling Stone.
