Announcing the SXSW Interactive Awards Finalists
We are very excited to bring you the finalists of the SXSW Interactive Awards. All finalists are projects that were launched or completely redesigned in 2011, with the exception of the Classic category. The winners in each category will be revealed at the 15th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony presented by HP on Tuesday evening, March 13 at the Hilton Austin Downtown.
SXSW Interactive Awards Finalists to be Announced Monday, January 23
Stay tuned to the SXSW Interactive blog to find out the finalists for the 2012 SXSW Interactive Awards, which will be announced on Monday, January 23. Five finalists in each of our 15 categories will be named on Monday, chosen by a panel of SXSW Interactive Awards judges from around the world.
Tuesday, March 13 Events: Interactive Awards Ceremony
For 2012, the SXSW Interactive Festival begins Friday, March 9 and runs through Tuesday, March 13. While the lineup for the first day of the event is strong (consider, for instance, the traditional "Mix at Six" reception), the content for the final day is even stronger. Said another way, if you aren't staying through the end of the day on Tuesday, March 13, then you are missing out some of the event's coolest content!
Comedy Duo Gabe & Jenny to Emcee 15th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony
The SXSW Interactive Festival does not go out with a whimper. No, we like to end things every year with a bang. 2012 will be no exception, as the 15th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony presented by HP will open a night full of closing celebrations on Tuesday, March 13 at the Hilton Austin Downtown (6th floor Austin Grand Ballroom). To direct this year's Interactive Awards Ceremony and the fun that will ensue, SXSW Interactive is happy to announce this year's emcees.
For the first time we'll have co-hosts of the Interactive Awards Ceremony as comedy duo Gabe & Jenny will emcee the night's events.

Jeffrey Zeldman to be Inducted to SXSW Hall of Fame at 2012 Interactive Awards
Web design pioneer Jeffrey Zeldman will be the first ever inductee to the SXSW Interactive Festival Hall of Fame on the evening of Tuesday, March 13. Dubbed the King of Web Standards by Business Week, Zeldman publishes A List Apart “for people who make websites,” a leading journal of web design thought since 1998.

The SXSW Interactive Awards highlights some of the best emerging trends in the digital community. Some of the best work is in the form of mobile and tablet applications.
While the mobile-specific category of the SXSW Interactive Awards was scrapped for this year, we feel that these mobile sites and applications fit into many of our 15 categories. Past mobile winners include Airbnb and Gowalla.
